A Captain will go down with the ship...but this ship is not going down easy. "Don't give up the ship" was the dying command of the U.S. Navy Captain James Lawrence on June 1, 1813. Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, a close friend of Lawrence, had the words stitched in white letters onto a large battle flag. Perry flew this banner on his flagship, the USS Lawrence, during the Battle of Lake Erie on September 10, 1813. Perry led his men to a major victory, cementing the phrase as an enduring U.S. Navy rallying cry. We hang this flag proudly + high in our FlagShip as a reminder to never give up, work hard, + persevere in the face of hardship.

Captain + Crue survived its first major storm, with high tidal surges and days of flooding, surrounded on all sides by water. While the Crue worked diligently before the storm to move all our inventory, furniture + displays safely to higher grounds, we weathered the storm, but with stripping our entire store down to nothing in order to protect everything we've worked so hard for, we'll need a week to put everything back into place. That means no in store shopping, no income for this time we're down as a brand new business + these weeks of being open for business are crucial, as we are headed into a slower (winter) time of year.

Captain + Crue is offering a limited edition tee, featuring our signature "Don't Give Up the Ship" Flag, to help offset the losses our store is facing post-storm. We will keep this shirt available for pre-order as long as we are closed + are navigating the aftermath of the nor'easter. As always the Captain thanks you for your support!
